Weeding and Weed Treatment in Larkfield

Weeding and weed treatment in Larkfield for borders, gravel, block paving joints and driveways. Some weeds pull, some need treating at the root. We use whichever suits the spot and the planting nearby. Free quotes.

Pulling versus treating

Annual weeds pull out easily and are gone. Perennials like bindweed, dandelion and couch grass regrow from any root left behind, so pulling them just prunes them. Those need treating or digging out fully. Knowing which is which saves repeating the job.

More Information

Weeds in paving and gravel

Paving joints and gravel drives grow weeds because dust and debris settle there and make soil. Clearing that build up removes what they root into. On block paving, cleaning and re-sanding the joints does more for weed control than any spray.

Working around plants you want to keep

Treatment does not tell the difference between a weed and a favourite shrub. Close to planting we hand weed rather than treat, or shield what is nearby. In open gravel and along drives there is far more room to work, so treatment makes more sense there.

About us

Weeding is steady, unglamorous work and it is what keeps the rest of a garden looking cared for. We do it as a one off blitz on a border that has got away, or as part of regular visits around Larkfield where staying on top of it takes minutes instead of hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I stop weeds coming back through my driveway?

Take away what they root in. Weeds on a driveway grow in the dirt and moss packed into the joints, not in the ground below. Cleaning the joints out and brushing in fresh kiln dried sand removes the seedbed and keeps a drive clear far longer.

Are the weed treatments safe around pets and children?

We use products according to their instructions and tell you how long to keep pets and children off the treated area, usually until it has dried. Where that is not practical, around a lawn used by a dog for instance, we hand weed instead.

Can you get rid of weeds without chemicals?

Yes. Hand weeding, hoeing and mulching all work without any treatment, and mulch is particularly good in borders as it blocks the light weed seeds need. It takes more visits than treatment does, so tell us at the quote stage if that is what you want.
