Brickwork and Stonework Cleaning in Larkfield

Brickwork and stonework cleaning in Larkfield for house walls, garden walls, pillars, steps and stone features. Algae, green streaking and years of grime come off, at a pressure the masonry can take. Free quotes.

Soft brick and old mortar need care

Older Kent brickwork is often softer than it looks, and lime mortar softer still. A hard jet will take the face off a brick and wash the pointing out. We test a small area low down first, then set the pressure from what we see there.

More Information

Green streaks and where they come from

Green streaking down a wall usually starts higher up. A leaking gutter joint, a blocked downpipe or a full gutter sends water down the brick every time it rains. Cleaning the wall fixes the look, but finding the leak is what stops it coming back.

Walls, pillars and steps around the garden

Garden walls, gate pillars and brick steps take the same treatment as the house. Steps matter most, as brick and stone treads go slippery once algae takes hold. These are quick jobs and are usually best added on while we are already on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will pressure washing damage brickwork on an older house?

It can, if the pressure is wrong for the brick. Soft or weathered brick and lime mortar need a gentle wash rather than a hard jet. We always test a low, hidden area first. If the masonry is too fragile to clean safely, we will tell you straight.

Can you clean render as well as brick?

Yes. Render cleans well at low pressure with a wider fan. Painted render needs more care, as flaking paint lifts under a jet. We check the condition first and work gently. Silicone and modern through coloured render both come up well.

Does cleaning stop the green coming back?

It sets it back by a few years. Green returns where a wall stays damp, so the lasting fix is sorting out what keeps it wet, usually a gutter or downpipe. A treatment after cleaning slows the regrowth considerably.

About us

Masonry is the surface where 17 years counts for most. Brick, render, flint, sandstone and block all react differently, and the damage from getting it wrong cannot be undone. We would rather spend ten minutes on a test patch than repair a wall around Larkfield afterwards.
